Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant

This product is amazing. Hands down, amazing. It is pricey, though ($30-$50 a bottle depending on size). If you know anything about proper skin care, you are aware that over exfoliating is a thing. We should only be exfoliating a few times a week, if that. Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells that could potentially create clogged pores. If we exfoliate too often, we are being too abrasive to our skin considering there’s no more dead skin cells to rid. The best part of exfoliating is how amazingly soft our skin feels afterwards! What I LOVE about the daily microfoliant is, in fact, you guess it! DAILY! That’s right. You can use this non abrasive, gentle exfoliating powder daily. A lot of people use this product wrong. It’s unique in it’s process but effective when applied correctly.

First, wet your hands. Then, dispense a half-teaspoon of the product into one hand. Then, with your wet hands and product, rub your hands together and create a paste.

This exfoliant can be used as a masque or a scrub. You can leave it on the face for 8-10 minutes or simply rub it into the skin for two minutes with warm water. This exfoliation product is amazing because it is gentle on the skin and exfoliates just enough to be used daily. If you would like to exfoliate less or use a stronger exfoliant, chemical exfoliation is the way to go.

I’d like to inform you about over the counter scrubs such as everyone’s favorite “Saint Ives Apricot Scrub”.

Although it’s claim to fame is its ability to give you super soft skin and a brand name close to home, the beads they use in their scrub are actually quite damaging to your skin. Their beads (and many other cheap-o scrubs) are uneven and jagged. They can cut up the skin when scrubbed too harshly and create “micro-tears”. Micro-tears are exactly what they sound like. Microscopic tears in the skin that create a higher risk of infection, break outs, and susceptible to environmental pollution such as sun damage. The Microfoliant creates a scrub so perfectly grinned down that it provides a smooth, safe, effective exfoliation
